Duncan Jones, first time fiction director but prolific documentarian, gives an interview about his new film, one I’m really excited about. Even in a blockbuster-laden summer such as this, smaller movies like “Moon” stand out. After I first watched the trailer months ago, I was ecstatic: it evokes films like “2001″, “Sunshine”, and other monumental movies in this genre.
Rather, Moon is a showcase for star Sam Rockwell, who gives what is surely one of the year’s more uniquely layered performances. As the film opens today in NY and LA before rolling out in the weeks to come, Jones spoke with Cinematical about shooting sci-fi on a small budget, releasing an indie in a season of blockbusters, and cracking his skull out of pure giddiness for a movie.
I can’t wait for this movie for much longer.
