An Ode to AT&T

July 18th, 2009

MG Siegler:

I’m so pissed off that I kind of want to call AT&T and demand that they call each of the people I missed calls from and personally apologize. Instead, I’m writing them this very public condemnation.

This is really, really bad any way you look at it. But it’s compounded by a host of other failures over the past several months and years on AT&T’s behalf.

I’m still in the honeymoon of my relationship with AT&T. A new iPhone in my pocket, signal good almost everywhere I go—yet, I still worry that maybe it was a bad idea to get an iPhone now, when all signs indicate a Verizon iPhone next year. I’ll see how this marriage goes before I change my mind on AT&T, but with stories like this I worry.

AT&T is out of touch and could care less about customers they view all customers like a Kleenex.
My I phone hasn’t been able to deliver mail for 12 days it reads: Cannot get mail
the connection to the server “imap.gmail.com” failed

Also re: AT&T The past two weeks of getting our dsl restored has been the absolute worst customer service experience of my life, reached far below “stupid” in policies and procedures in place. AT&T Customers are viewed as prisoners. BUT GOOD NEWS, last week all the broadband and phones lines were migrated away from ATT at my business. Now we begin a two year process of switching our family Cell phone plan to verizon because AT&T cannot authorize cancelling contracts for lack of services promised. DSL and home phone package will be 100% cancelled mid january and give the cable company a chance.
What a crappy out of touch company. I can’t be happy with them cheating me and reading from the dishonest “we apologize” script any longer. A company with their resources could give excellent service if only it was not contrary to their corporate culture. What a piece of dung.
